The Department of Management prides itself in having a faculty that excels in research, teaching, and industry connections. Our faculty has published in the most respectable journals in the field including the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Entrepreneurship, Theory and Practice, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of International Business Studies, Research Policy, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Personnel Psychology, and Journal of Management, among others.

Our colleagues have won multiple college, university, and even statewide awards for teaching excellence and we all take great pride in our students’ success in the classroom, in internships, and in their careers.  We offer PhD degrees in Management and Entrepreneurship, as well as majors in Management and Entrepreneurship, with tracks that emphasize practical management areas. A degree in management allows students to learn the main aspects of business and acquire skills to become leaders and entrepreneurs, which provides diverse career opportunities.

Management Major

Marketing affects every aspect of a company.  Decisions include issues related to product design, pricing and market analysis, promotional planning, and selling strategies.  Marketing students get real-world experience and have multiple opportunities to work with business professionals. This program prepares students for careers in product management, advertising management, marketing research, market analysis, and sales.

Entrepreneurship Major

A degree in entrepreneurship is an asset for any creative thinker, providing each graduate with an important foundation no matter how many exciting twists or turns they take in their career path. Taught by high-quality faculty members who are dedicated teachers and researchers, the Iowa State University curriculum blends cutting-edge theories and concepts with the essential real-world skills needed for a successful entrepreneurial career.

PhD in Management

The doctoral program in management (MGMT) prepares doctoral students to publish scholarly research in the fields of Strategy, Organizational Behavioral, Entrepreneurship, and Human Resource Management. The purpose of the program is to place its graduates into leading academic positions in the United States and abroad.

PhD in Entrepreneurship

The doctoral program in Entrepreneurship (ENT) prepares an aspiring group of doctoral students to conduct and publish scholarly research in the fields of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Technology Management.
