College of Business Tenured/Tenure-Track Review Schedule

These schedules are in accordance with the College of Business Faculty Review and Evaluation Policies and Procedures Document and Iowa State University Faculty Handbook. Please also review department specific documents and Iowa State University’s Faculty Handbook for additional information.

Preliminary (3rd Year) Review Schedule

DecemberDepartment Chair notifies Candidate of Review Schedule and Requirements
January 10Personal statement, curriculum vitae, and faculty member portfolio per departmental governance submitted to Department Chair for Department Review
By February 20Department Chair notifies candidate of Departmental Review
February 28Review Packet submitted to Dean for College Review.
April 15Dean notifies candidate in writing of dean’s recommendation.
May 1Packet is forwarded to the Senior Vice President and Provost’s Office.
By May 15Final notification and updated Letter of Intent provided to the Candidate.

 

Promotion and/or Tenure Review Schedule

Due On or BeforeAction
April 15Candidate provides letter of intent to department chair and submits list of names of up to five external reviewers, including a brief description of their relationship, if any, with each of the possible reviewers. The candidate also may submit a list of up to three people in the field who should not be contacted as reviewers.
September 1Personal statement, curriculum vitae, and faculty member portfolio submitted to department chair for departmental P&T committee review.
September/OctoberDepartmental review.
September 15Letter and materials sent to external reviewers.
October 15Receive letters from external reviewers.
November 10Departmental and department chair reports to the Dean.
December 15College P&T committee submits report to the Dean.
By January 14Dean notifies candidate in writing of dean’s recommendation.
January 14Packet is forwarded to the Senior Vice President and Provost’s Office.
MarchProvost notifies candidate in writing of Provost’s recommendation, and forwards packet to the President’s Office.
AprilPacket is forwarded to the Regent’s Office.
By May 15Final notification and updated Letter of Intent provided to the Candidate.

Post-Tenure Review Schedule

December 1Department Chair notifies Candidate of Review Schedule and Requirements.
January 26Personal statement, curriculum vitae, faculty member’s PRR, and any other documents per departmental governance submitted to Department Chair for Department Review.
February 20Department Committee submits report to Department Chair.
March 1Department Chair meets with candidate to review and discuss departmental report.
March 8Candidate submits optional response to the Post-Tenure Report to the department chair in cases of finding “below expectations” in any performance area.
March 15Departmental Chair forwards Post-Tenure Review materials to the Dean.
April 1Materials forwarded to the Senior Vice President and Provost’s Office.
September 1Department Chair, departmental review committee, and faculty member complete and sign performance improvement plan in case of any findings “below expectations” in any performance area.
