College of Business to host Young Women in Business Conference October 23

The College of Business at Iowa State University is hosting its ninth annual Young Women in Business Fall Conference, an event for high school girls in grades 9-12, on Monday, October 23 at the Memorial Union. The conference runs from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Young Women in Business Fall Conference aims to help students explore the wide variety of business fields and opportunities available to them, as well as interacting with women business leaders and young professionals. Those who attend have the opportunity to learn more about the college’s career services, undergraduate advising, and college faculty. They also have the chance to sit in on industry and faculty sessions to see firsthand the impact of a business education.

“There has never been a better time for young women to choose business at Iowa State University,” said Raisbeck Endowed Dean David Spalding. “We’re making plans for an expansion to our building. We just received a $50 million gift, which names us the Debbie and Jerry Ivy College of Business (pending approval by the Iowa Board of Regents). We are growing in many ways, beyond record enrollment. We are offering new programs, such as a major in entrepreneurship. This is a great time to be in business, and the perfect time for young women in high school to check us out.”

Parents, teachers, and school counselors are also welcome to attend. Participants are encouraged to register as quickly as possible.

The deadline to register is October 17. Learn more and register at https://www.business.iastate.edu/ywib/.

The Iowa State University College of Business is among the top 50 public business programs in the country. The College offers a wide variety of programs to maximize student potential, connects students with professionals through case competitions, interactive learning, study abroad, internships and ultimately successful employment.
