Five College of Business faculty members were honored during a special ceremony in April, thanks to the generosity of two Iowa State University alumni.
Kingland, a company based in Clear Lake, Iowa, and David and Deb Kingland, recently donated $1.5 million to benefit students and faculty in three colleges, including the College of Business.
“Deb and I are both proud Iowa State alumni and to this day continue to be positively impacted by this great university,” said David Kingland (’80 industrial administration), who has served on the College of Business Dean’s Advisory Council since 2009. “Iowa State has been a tremendous collaborator with Kingland, and this is our way to say thank you and to continue to partner in the next generation of software, data, and innovation.”
Kingland is a leading provider of enter-prise-class data and compliance software for audit, finance, insurance, and retail companies with offices in Clear Lake and Ames, Iowa. David and Deb Kingland (’80 family and consumer sciences) are longtime supporters of Iowa State University. Their most recent gift supports the university’s $1.1 billion comprehensive fundraising campaign, Forever True, For Iowa State.
The Kingland gift is designated to support one of Iowa State’s top campaign priorities, data analytics, across the College of Business, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and College of Engineering by providing student scholarships, named faculty positions, and support for student organizations.
Scholarship funds have been created for use by each college. In the College of Business, a scholarship fund has been established to support students interested in a career in data analytics: the Kingland Business Analytics Scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded beginning with the fall 2017 academic year.
Additionally, the gift provides named faculty positions to support professors whose teaching and research advances
the university’s focus in data analytics, entrepreneurship, and other high-growth areas.
