Kelsey Duff, Altoona, Iowa, graduated in December with degrees in Marketing and Management and minors in Communications Studies and Event Management. After writing a speech about her adventure at Iowa State University, she auditioned to be the speaker at the College of Business convocation ceremony, held at Hilton Coliseum the day before the official university commencement.
“Kelsey was an excellent choice for student speaker,” said Raisbeck Endowed Dean David Spalding. “She has been very active during her time here at Iowa State. Her adventure took her on a study abroad trip to Rome, Italy for one month and to a summer internship with the Walt Disney Company. She has built an impressive resume during her college years.”
That experience was accomplished in many areas across campus, including Athletics, Homecoming, the Iowa Events Center, and Student Admissions. She was very active at the College of Business. She was involved with Business Council, served as a peer-mentor, was active with the Marketing Club, and worked as a student assistant for the Finance and Accounting departments, and more.
“That’s a very impressive list for a student with a double-major and two minors,” Spalding said. “This is what we want for all of our students, for them to be involved. These types of activities add value to their education and their overall college experience.”
