College of Business Moves up in National Rankings

Our undergraduate and graduate programs each moved up in double digits in the 2016 U.S. News & World Report rankings. The Iowa State MBA program has moved up 10 spaces to 63rd in the nation. This new ranking places the full-time MBA program in the top 13 percent of AACSB-accredited programs in the United States. The program ranks 32nd among public universities.

Our undergraduate program moved up 22 places in the ranking, from 101 last year to 79th in the nation (out of 472). This places the program in the top 16 percent of AACSB accredited programs.

The College of Business is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).  This is the premier accrediting body for business programs. Less than five percent of business schools worldwide earn this designation.
“Our improvement in the rankings reflects the fact that we have an outstanding faculty and a dedicated staff who provide an excellent educational experience for our students. This represents great recognition of all of their good work,” said David Spalding, Raisbeck Endowed Dean of the College of Business.

The rankings are worth noting, of course, but there is something else we watch closely.

“One of our highest points of pride is that nearly all our graduates are employed within three months of graduation. Many have multiple job offers by the time they graduate,” Spalding said.

The undergraduate office reports an average of 94 percent of graduating students have a job within three months. That average includes eight majors, several of which have a 90-100 percent employment rate.

We are also pleased to report that 95 percent of our MBA graduates are also employed within three months of graduating. This is our goal, to help students graduate and successfully find good employment.

The College of Business offers degrees in Accounting, Business Economics, Finance, International Business, Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management. The College also offers Master’s degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Finance, and Information Systems.

The Iowa State College of Business offers a wide variety of programs to maximize student potential, connect students with professionals through case competitions, interactive learning, study abroad, internships and ultimately successful employment.
