Changes to the FAFSA –
Beginning with the 2017-18 cycle, the FAFSA will collect income information from the tax year one year earlier than what has been used in the past. So for the 2017-18 FAFSA, students and families will provide tax information from the 2015 tax year rather than the 2016 tax year. The earlier submission date will be a permanent change, enabling students to complete and submit their FAFSAs as early as October 1 every year.
The 2017-18 FAFSA application will be available beginning October 1st, 2016 at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Complete your FAFSA by December 1st, 2016 in order to be considered for priority aid. For more information regarding the 2017-18 FAFSA, visit the Iowa State Early FAFSA web page.
