Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program is available starting February 17 and goes until April 14.  It is sponsored by Beta Alpha Psi.

This service is provided by trained ISU accounting students through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). Please note that due to the complex nature of some Income Tax Returns, VITA Volunteers may not be able to provide assistance to all people.

Dates
February 17 through April 14, 2009
Assistance will not be available March 16-20 while Iowa State is closed for spring break.

Location
2148 Gerdin Business Building

Hours
Tuesdays 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Wednesdays 6-8 p.m.
Thursdays 6-8 p.m.

Remember to bring:

  • Proof of identification
  • Birth dates and Social Security numbers for you, spouse, dependents and please know if you are being claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return.
  • Current year’s tax package if you received one
  • All tax documents from employers and financial institutions, including W-2s and 1099s
  • Identification Number
  • If filing taxes electronically, bring bank routing and account numbers for direct deposit. Also, both spouses must be present to sign forms.
  • A copy of last year’s Federal and State returns if available
  • Total paid for day care provider and the day care provider’s Social Security number or business Employer
