Academic History PhD, University of California at Berkeley, 1986 BSc, University College Dublin, Ireland, 1981 Expertise Agricultural Markets and Trade Agribusiness Insurance Options Professional Activities Professor Hayes is a member of the Finance Department and of the Economics Department. His scholarly activities include publications in the Journal of Finance, American Economic Review, The Journal of Development Economics and the American Journal of Agricultural Economics. His current research involves the impact of the information revolution on the structure of agricultural markets, the pricing of exotic options and insurance contracts, the use of speculative markets to reinsure the systemic portion of risky portfolios, and the possible impact of current trade liberalization in China on world agricultural markets.
