The Iowa State College of Business is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Rahul Parsa who fills a newly created position as Faculty Fellow of Des Moines Programs. Parsa, who joins the Supply Chain and Information Systems Department, is teaching a variety of management Information systems courses that will benefit professionals in Des Moines.
Courses include advanced software development, foundations of business analytics, insurance analytics, and quantitative business analysis. His courses are offered at the Iowa State facility in Capital Square, downtown Des Moines. In addition to his role in analytics education in Des Moines, Parsa will have an important role in the analytics program in Ames.
“We’re growing our higher education opportunities in Des Moines and we are fortunate to have someone as experienced and knowledgeable as Rahul join our faculty,” said Raisbeck Endowed Dean David Spalding. “He is a well-known, respected educator and he is very connected to major businesses in Iowa.”
“I’ve been working in Des Moines for 25 years and I’m honored to be part of the ISU College of Business,” said Parsa. “I’m excited about the opportunity to grow more Iowa State programs in the metro area. Our programs in Des Moines bring together the university’s excellence in business, statistics, and computer science for professionals who are interested in enhancing their careers.”
Parsa earned a Ph.D. in statistics from Texas A & M University, a Master of Science in applied mathematics and Bachelor of Science (Honors) in mathematics from the Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. Most recently, Parsa was the Principal Financial Group Distinguished Professor of Statistics and Actuarial Science at Drake University. He also served as the Director of the School of Actuarial Sciences at Drake.
Since its inception, Parsa has been a member of the steering committee of the Global Insurance Symposium, working with Nick Gerhart, Iowa Insurance Commissioner, and Jay Byers, CEO, Greater Des Moines Partnership.
“By having Rahul in our Capital Square office, we are able to serve more professionals in Des Moines who wish to continue their education,” Spalding said.
