All three award winners in the 2015 John Pappajohn Iowa Business Plan Competition were assisted by America’s SBDC Iowa

AMES, Iowa – The three award winning companies in this year’s John Pappajohn Iowa Business Plan Competition received business counseling services from America’s SBDC Iowa (SBDC).

The three winners are: Innovas Technologies and Immortagen, clients of the University of Iowa SBDC, and Fanstreamm, who was assisted by the Kirkwood SBDC. Ten finalists advanced through the executive summary and business plan rounds of the competition to the presentation round. Of those ten finalists, six were SBDC clients.

“The selection of these three companies emphasizes the breadth and scope of the professional services provided by America’s SBDC Iowa. We congratulate the winning companies and the two regional SBDC centers who have worked diligently with these companies,” says SBDC State Director Lisa Shimkat.

Innovas Technologies, Coralville, which designs, manufactures and distributes shell and tube cleaning technology for heat exchangers, won the first place prize of $25,000. Fanstreamm, Cedar Rapids, which helps sports teams and venues leverage data to expand business, was awarded $15,000 for second place. Immortagen, Coralville, which provides algorithms that help determine the risk of recurrence in medical cases, finished third and received $10,000.
