Union Pacific Marketing Case Competition

Objective and General Format

Goal:

To give undergraduate students in marketing an opportunity to showcase their acquired skills in a one-day case competition.  Additionally, the case competition will help increase the awareness of Union Pacific among College of Business Marketing students.

Format:

The competition will last one day and will consist of 4 teams. It will commence around 9:00am on March 7, 2014, when a single case will be presented to all of the participating teams. Teams will have roughly four hours to deliberate, including a meeting with their coach. The team will come up with an appropriate solution to the case at hand, prepare a presentation, and be prepared to answer questions from judges regarding their response to the case. The students will present their case to a team of judges, made up of Union Pacific employees & ISU Faculty, who will determine a winner. The winner will be presented with a monetary prize and their name engraved on a plaque which will hang in the Department of Marketing in the Gerdin Business Building.  After all teams have presented, all participants, judges, marketing faculty, and marketing club members will be invited to attend a reception.
