Now that August is finally here, I can’t tell you how excited I am to join the College of Business and the Iowa State University community. With the warmth everyone at Iowa State has shown in my time on campus, it’s no wonder that students are flocking to Ames in droves. Thank you for all you have done to help me make a smooth transition and to prepare the college for a great upcoming academic year.

The College of Business website is getting a face lift! We will be switching from Drupal to WordPress and with that will be some design changes. The organization and content will remain the same. A few design features you will notice include: drop down menus, sub-menus will be on the right hand side, the organization for News, Announcements, and CoB Online, a more open feel for content, and a top blue area that highlights important information.
We have been working very hard this summer on the changes and felt this was the right move for the college to stay up to date on web trends. This will be an easier platform to work with and more customization will be available. If you have questions on the new change, please feel free to contact Katie Raymon at email@example.com.
The change will take place in late August with more information to come.

All indications are that our incoming College numbers will be up from last year (around 150+). We’ll have final numbers with the 10-day count. Campus enrollment projections have been trending very strong in an upward fashion, so there will be lots of student activity on campus and around town in the next weeks/months to come!
Our office will be meeting with International students and domestic students Aug 21-23 for orientation programs and to register for fall classes. Thanks to the faculty who are assisting us with meeting with prospective students and their families during our orientation sessions. It is much appreciated!
To date, 263 incoming freshman (including Honors students) have joined Business Learning Teams; 101 transfer students have joined the Transfer Business Learning Teams. A learning team orientation will be held on Sunday, August 25th, at 1:00 pm to kick off their year.
Kelsie Poe will join the office on August 12 as a first-year graduate student in the Higher Education program at ISU, and will be on half-time appointment. She joins us from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she earned her B.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education in May. She was heavily involved in residence life as an undergrad, most recently serving as a Senior Resident Assistant. Kelsie also served as a New Student Enrollment Orientation Leader, Teaching Assistant for an Ed Psych class, Honors Program mentor, and officer in Residence Hall government, so she has a wealth of student interaction, integration, and student services experience. She will teach BusAd 101 along with advising duties. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org, if you wish to send her a welcome note.
Course Registration Reminders:
• Prerequisites for fall College of Business courses have been monitored over the summer break. Students who are in violation of a prereq have been notified and will be notified again later in August. Instructors will receive a list of students who remain in violation before the semester begins and we ask that you follow-up with these students about their missing prereq if/when they attend your class (es).
• Please note that Business faculty cannot sign students into Business classes using an add slip. Refer students to Sarah Wilson in 1200 Gerdin to assist in the registration of Business courses.
• Registration for Business classes will remain open on AccessPlus through the 5th day of the term (Friday, August 30th). On the 6th day, class registration will close and courses may only be added in 1200 Gerdin with special permission. If you have other wishes (e.g. no adds after the 2nd class meeting, adds are okay until the end of week 2, etc.), please contact Sarah at email@example.com.
