Bill Dilla presented the paper Investor Attitudes, Investment Screen Usage, and Socially Responsible Investment Behavior (co-authored with Diane Janvrin, Jon Perkins, and Robyn Raschke (University of Nevada—Las Vegas)) at the 2013 European Accounting Association Annual Congress in Paris, France.
Dilla also presented the paper Assurance on Environmental Performance and Investor Judgments: The Impact of Environmental Attitudes (co-authored with D. Janvrin, J. Perkins, and R. Raschke) at the University of Gothenberg, Sweden.
Bill Dilla attended the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Global Conference on Sustainability and Reporting in Amsterdam. The Conference is a biennial gathering of practitioners, standard-setters, and academics interested in sustainability reporting.
Michael Bootsma was the Business Council Teacher of the Year.
NACE Annual Conference
Tammy Stegman, Sarah Van Vark, Kathy Wieland and Meredith Williams will attend the NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) conference June 4-7 in Orlando, FL.
We are currently scheduling employer visits for June and July to include both top hiring organizations in the College of Business as well as prospective companies. If you are aware of an employer you believe should recruit business students from ISU, please let us know and we will reach out to the firm or organization.
We will host our Annual Employers Circle for the Top College of Business Hiring Organizations on July 30

Qazi Kabir attended the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) conference in Denver, May 3-6.
Mark Peterson has been re-elected by the MBA Career Services Council Board of Directors to a second term as President of the Board. Other MBA CSC Board officers are Margaret Roberts (Eberhardt School of Business, University of the Pacific) – Vice President; Damian Zikakis (Ross School of Business, University of Michigan) – Treasurer; Fred Staudmyer (Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell University) – Secretary.
Jenny Lin won the best paper presentation award at the 3rd annual interdisciplinary symposium on decision neuroscience. The paper was titled, “Olfactory imagery and emotions: Neuroscientific evidence.”
Dengpan Liu paper, “Consumer Learning and Time-locked Trials of Software Products,” (co-authors Deb Dey and Atanu Lahiri) has just been accepted for publication in the Journal of Management Information Systems.
Toyin Clottey presented the paper “Quantity Discounts for Acquiring Cores” at the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) annual conference in Denver, May 3-6.
Brian Mennecke and Anicia Peters’ research paper were featured in an article posted on a vender magazine website, Retail Customer Experience. The story is entitled, “Professor weighs benefit vs. risk of facial recognition technology,” and can be found at goo.gl/imwsP.
Brian Mennecke was recently interviewed about the topic of facial recognition and privacy. The interview follows on a paper he and Anicia Peters, a doctoral candidate in HCI, recently published on this topic in the journal Business Horizons. The interview can be found here.
Andy Luse, Brian Mennecke, Anthony Townsend, and Sam DeMarie had a paper accepted for publication in the proceedings of the 19th Annual Americas Conference on Information Systems, to be held August 15-17, 2013, in Chicago. The paper is entitled, “Strategic Information Systems Security: Definition and Theoretical Model.”
Frank Montabon was selected for JSCM’s 2012 Best Associate Editor Award.
Scott Grawe and Toyin Clottey’s paper, “Non-response bias assessment in logistics survey research: use fewer tests?” has been accepted in the International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management.
Orientation for incoming students has started! Orientation dates are July 1 for transfer students; June 13 for new international students; and June 3 & 4, 5 & 6, 9 & 10, 11 & 12, 18 & 19, 20 & 21, 24 & 25, & 27 & 28 for incoming first-time students. Please welcome our new students!
Brenda Thorbs-Weber will be working with College of Business APEX (Academic Program for Excellence) students this summer. The Academic Program for Excellence (APEX) is an eight week academic summer program for incoming freshmen students at Iowa State University.
The Undergraduate Programs Office wants to recognize Stephanie Larson for her Advisor of the Year award from Business Council. It’s nice when students recognize and appreciate the assistance and support they are given along their way to graduation! Congratulations Stephanie!
